"Returning from Exile"- 53rd
Weekend
2000
"53rd
transforms us into what I think is a part of God's dream"
- 53rd
Weekend participant, 1999
Come be a
part of God's dream!
Theme speaker
Archbishop David Crawley, Diocese of
Kootenay
The Most Rev'd David
Crawley brings to the 53rd
Weekend 40 years of ordained ministry in the
Anglican Church having focused
his work in Western Canada after completing
his B.A. at the University of
Manitoba and his Honours L.Th. at St. John's
College. Before being consecrated
bishop in 1990 and archbishop in 1994,
David served in many capacities as
a Rector, Canon Missioner, Projects
Director, University Chaplain as well
as a CBC Interviewer and Editor!
Archbishop Crawley will focus his energy discussing "The
People of
God - Returning from Exile" our theme for the weekend. The
mountainous
land of Kootenay offers many challenges to see the wider
community. "We
in the mountains tend to only see horizons." he
says. With careful
direction the Archbishop sees his diocese as a faith
community looking beyond
its borders where everyone is empowered to 'mutual
ministry' and 'ministry
of all the baptized'. David will expand on the
meditations he began at the
"Living the Covenant" conference in
Minneapolis last June.
"A
dynamic and prophetic speaker." Patti

Celebrating the Covenant
- Debbie
Lou Ludolf - In Concert
Baptized Anglican,
confirmed United and married
to a Lutheran Pastor, 'ecumenical' is the only
real word to describe this
dynamic vocal teacher, musician and performer.
Drawing on the many different
faith communities that have shaped Debbie
Lou's life, it is her joy to celebrate
the different gifts of those
communities and the unity in Christ that they
share. Debbie Lou's musical
talents are enjoyed at Wilfrid Laurier University
where she teaches. She is
a sought after teacher, soloist, speaker and adjudicator.
Debbie Lou uses
her ecumenical background to focus on the unifying force
of Jesus Christ in
todays church.
Debbie Lou will share her faith story in song
during a Saturday evening
concert using many forms of sacred music. We will
enjoy her stories, her
music and her call to celebrate the gift of God's
love experienced through
music, scripture, creation and people. She will
also lead the elective "Singing
With Freedom".
